The beach is located in an area with protection status in the field of nature conservation, namely, in the National Network of Protected Areas:
Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina Natural Park and the Natura 2000 Network:
Southwest Coast (ZPE) and Southwest Coast (SIC).

Golden sand beach, located in the village of Salema, a small fishing village. The central section of the beach is occupied by fishing vessels and the respective gear, such as the covo or the hook device. On this beach it is possible to see the boats returning to the beach after the work and then snacking on octopus, moray eel or sea bream, in the village's restaurants.

In Salema there are the ruins of a Roman “villa” and a fish canning factory.
