The Beach
Praia da Figueira is only accessible by foot. It is located about 900m from the car park that serves it. However, the necessary pedestrian route, in addition to being very easy, is of great interest as it passes through traditional vegetable gardens and daughter-in-laws and the superb natural beauty that surrounds it. Tempered by marked features of Mediterranean influence, the beach has a small expanse of sand, guarded, on the eastern flank, by the ruins of the old Forte de Vera Cruz da Figueira. To the west, the view reaches the neighboring beach, Furnas. It is part of the Southwest Alentejo and Costa Vicentina Natural Park.
